From October 28 to November 4, 2025, the European Junior (U20) and U23 Weightlifting Championships were held in Durrës, Albania. Eight competition days — and Armenia finished first in the overall medal standings with 7 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze. Turkey was second with 5 gold, 8 silver and 3 bronze.
Final day (Nov 4) — three U23 successes.
Garik Karapetyan won the U23 European title in the 110 kg class with 397 kg (182+215), four kilograms ahead of Belarus's Serey Sharankov. In +110 kg Ashot Movsisyan took gold with 384 kg (168+216), edging Ukraine's Bohdan Khoza by just 1 kg. In 94 kg Mnatsakan Abrahamyan earned silver with 361 kg (160+201), only 2 kg behind Ukraine's Maksym Dombrovskyy.
Day seven (Nov 3).
In women's 86 kg U23 Liana Gyurdzhyan became European Champion with 232 kg (102+130). In women's 86 kg U20 Emma Poghosyan claimed gold with 241 kg (105+136), 2 kg clear of Turkey's Can Bursa.
Day six (Nov 2).
In women's 77 kg U20 Anna Amroyan won bronze. Grigor Ghazaryan and Valerik Movsisyan (94 kg U20), Suren Grigoryan (88 kg U23) did not medal.
Day five (Nov 1).
Meri Misakyan took bronze in women's 69 kg U20 with 210 kg (92+118).
Day four (Oct 31).
Narek Mkrtchyan won silver in men's 79 kg U20 with 338 kg (150+188), 2 kg behind Azerbaijan's Ravin Almammadov.
Day three (Oct 30) — Armenian duel at 71 kg.
In men's 71 kg U20, 20-year-old Tigran Karapetyan and 18-year-old Narek Grigoryan battled for the title. Both set new European junior records, but Karapetyan won with 321 kg (145+176), securing three records of his own (snatch, C&J, total). Grigoryan took silver with 318 kg (143+175).
In the same class, but U23, Gor Sahakyan earned bronze with 327 kg (145+182).
Day two (Oct 29) — two big golds.
In women's 58 kg U20 Aleksandra Grigoryan became champion with 214 kg (91+123), setting two European records. In men's 60 kg U23 Garnik Cholakyan took gold with 267 kg (120+147). Seyran Khudanyan earned a small silver in the snatch with 250 kg total.
Day one (Oct 28). No Armenian athletes competed.
Did not medal. Misha Melkonyan (110 kg U20) and Vardges Margaryan (+110 kg U20).
