The 2008 European Championships were held in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy on 11–20 April — the final continental event before the Beijing Olympics. Armenia produced one of its strongest European campaigns ever — four golds and a silver in total.

Gold: Tigran G. Martirosyan (69 kg, 346 kg), Tigran V. Martirosyan (85 kg, 377 kg), Meline Daluzyan (women's 63 kg, 235 kg), Nazik Avdalyan (women's 69 kg, 242 kg). Silver: Ara Khachatryan (77 kg, 361 kg). Edgar Gevorgyan added snatch silver in the 94 kg class with 176 kg.
