Armenian weightlifter, World Champion at the 2010 World Weightlifting Championships in Antalya in the 77 kg class with a 373 kg total (173 kg snatch, 200 kg clean & jerk).
Martirosyan became the first male weightlifter from independent Armenia to win a World Championship gold medal. He started weightlifting at age 11 and was Armenian Champion by 13. In 2004 he won the senior European Championship.
For his achievements he was voted Armenian Athlete of the Year for 2010. His father, Gevorg Martirosyan, was also a well-known weightlifter.
